Purpose of the Vendors’ Index

The Vendors Index provided in this Guidebook is intended to provide a quick reference for sourcing of products and services. The directory aims to:

1. Provide Access to updated contact details of vendors
2. Assist the user in identifying relevant vendors
3. Guide the reader to search for products available in the market.

Structure of the Vendors’ Index

The Vendor’s Index is further outlined into categories according to the kind of goods or services offered. Every vendor name in the directory lists the following information:

1. Vendor Reference ID: A vendor alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies the vendor across the cost data tables and Guidebook. This ID enables the professional to quickly check vendors with cost information in the rest of the book.

2. Vendor’s Name: The corporation or person who supplies construction goods or services.

3. Products/Services Offered: A short resume of the vendor’s materials, products, or services. This may extend from basic (e.g., steel or concrete) to more advanced (e.g., concrete placement, electrical work, or construction equipment) services.

4. Contact Information: The vendor’s address, phone number, email, and website (if applicable), ensuring that construction professionals can easily reach out to them.

5. Location: The city or region where the vendor operates. This is especially useful when considering logistical constraints for projects located in specific areas.

6. Additional Notes: Further information relating to the vendor, e.g., specialties, low volume discounts, shipping options, or special approvals.

Vendor Categories

To enable the directory’s functionality, the vendors are classified according to the nature of goods or of services they sell. Some of the common categories include:

1. Materials Suppliers: Suppliers of building materials such as cement, steel, tiles, paints, etc.
2. Equipment Rental: Equipment and tools providers for construction machinery whether for purchase or on rental terms.
3. Subcontractors: Specialized contractors in areas like electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, or concrete finishing.
4. Structural Steel Fabricators: Vendors specializing in the fabrication and supply of steel for construction projects.
5. Service providers: Tradespeople offering architectural designs, engineering, drafting, and consultancy works.
